Serve Wenatchee Valley
grew
out of the vision of Greg McPherson and a number of pastors in the Wenatchee
Valley. Since 1996 these individuals have been praying that God
would unite the hearts of church leaders and para-church ministries in order to
bring the whole Gospel of Jesus Christ to the whole valley.
Below is an overview
of the history of this ministry and how it grew into a vision for our valley and
beyond.
A
Future Glimpse of Serve Wenatchee Valley
To serve the whole
Wenatchee Valley with the whole Gospel of Jesus Christ by pastors working together to maximize our efforts
in the building of the Kingdom of God
We desire to reach the whole Wenatchee
valley with the whole Gospel of Jesus Christ. As pastors from different
churches in the Wenatchee valley, we believe God has called our local
congregations to individually work toward this goal. We also have come to
the belief that we must find a way to work together to maximize our
efforts towards reaching this end. We must seek out other pastors of
differing denominations and race and intentionally pursue relationships
with them, praying and working together for the building of the Kingdom of
Jesus in our valley.
Serve Wenatchee Valley will focus to
maximize all our efforts in demonstrating the love of Jesus Christ. We are
not a ministry that will replace the local church nor break down
denominational identities. We will seek to build relationships between
pastors in our valley, encourage valley-wide prayer, network pastors and
churches, and encourage valley-wide evangelism and need-oriented
ministries. We believe no individual church working in isolation can
effectively minister to the spiritual and social needs of the valley.
Therefore, our mission has four areas of focus:
Praying
Together.
We are convinced that prayer must be the
foundation for our efforts in reaching this valley for Jesus Christ. We
must seek God’s blessing upon each pastor and their ministry. We must ask
God to bring about the renewal of every church so that it can become a
life-giving congregation in the valley and beyond. Our desire is to create
a unity of prayer that seeks every church’s blessing that the whole Gospel
of Christ will be represented by the whole church. This will be
accomplished in part by:
-
Weekly and monthly pastor prayer
groups
-
Prayer walks
-
Prayer circles for special needs
-
Valley-wide prayer events
Nurturing
Relationships and Resourcing Pastors.
We believe we are made stronger as we
develop relationships with each other in our valley. We are better able to
stand together for Jesus Christ in this valley and work to maximize our
efforts individually and in our churches as we build relational bridges
between one another. We believe we are all part of the family of God and
must develop a vision that includes the success of not only our church but
also every pastor and church in this valley. We will seek to build
relationships to each other by:
Serving
the Wenatchee Valley.
We envision a ministry which works to develop and encourage us all to
serve our community in evangelism and need-oriented ministries. These
ministries will include, but are not limited to: food for the hungry,
clothes closet, recovery groups, tutoring, medical aid, vocational
training, and counseling.
We will also seek to support and
encourage para-church ministries like the jail ministry, unwed mothers,
Hospitality House, 1st Way, Young Life, Lighthouse, and
Solomon’s Porch. We will also continue to facilitate:
-
All-valley worship experiences
-
All-valley prayer rallies
-
All-valley outreach events
Clearinghouse
Ministry
As a Love INC affiliate we purpose to "help churches, help people help
themselves." Trained volunteers are available Monday through Friday
to meet with clients, verify needs and resource these needs through
churches or other community agencies. Check out our separate web
page about the variety of resources we have available to meet the needs of
our community.
Ecclesiastes
4:11-12
"...if two lie down
together, they will keep warm. But how can one keep warm alone? Though one
may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is
not quickly broken."
