SERVE WENATCHEE VALLEY NAMES NEW EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

Serve Wenatchee Valley (SWV) is pleased to announce the hiring of Thom Nees as its new executive director, replacing longtime leader and Serve Wenatchee Valley founding director Reverend Bob Shepard. “After an extensive national search, we’re happy to select Pastor Thom Nees as our next executive director”, said SWV Board President Steve Bishop. “Thom is extremely qualified and is also very familiar with our ministry. No one can really replace Bob Shepard, who helped found our organization, and who has faithfully led our ministry for over 15 years, but we believe Thom is the right leader to take Serve Wenatchee Valley to the next level in fulfilling our mission in our community.”

Nees most recently served as Pastor of Missio Dei Church, and as Executive Director of Hand in Hand Immigration Services in Wenatchee. Regarding his new position, Nees said, “I am humbled and honored to have the opportunity to serve our community as the Executive Director of Serve Wenatchee Valley. I look forward to continuing the compassionate work of Serve Wenatchee Valley by helping to meet the needs of people in crisis and keeping families in their homes. I am also committed to working collaboratively with our community and the local church to address bigger, long term solutions and be a part of transforming our valley as together we ‘act justly, love mercy, and walk humbly.’“

Nees will start August 1, and will work with Bob Shepard for two months until Shepard’s retirement October 1. About his successor, Shepard said, “I am pleased to pass the baton of leadership for Serve Wenatchee Valley onto my friend and colleague in ministry. Thom has demonstrated in many ways his love of Christ through showing compassion for the underprivileged of our valley. As God has blessed our ministry during these past 15 years, I am confident that God will pour His blessings on the efforts of Thom and his team as they continue to share the whole Gospel with the whole valley.”
